"Stories makes us believe in something greater"

I have always been fond of J.R.R Tolkien. The way he is explaining his world from the quiet moments with acient mystery to action packed moments with high stakes. It does so in a subtle but elegant way. A perfect balance of lore, companionship, subtle comedy and heart.

While Dragon Lance Chronicles have a simular voice. But having a little of a banter and stereo typical behaviors. The Dragons of Autumn Twilight are a little bit more modern in tone but still has that classical feeling of a group. Challenging big beasts with high stakes to smaller political challenges. When you are in a group the characters will grow more naturally.

Unlike Game of Thrones or The Farseer Trilogy which is more gritty and also deals with political warfare. They are two different directions but both are feeling very real and compelling. It also more world building writing narrative. Which can be hard sometimes to follow in my opinion.

I have also been listening to audiobooks lately and found them highly entertaining. When I delve deeper into J.R.R Tolkien and his craftmenship. The more I notice inspirations from the norse mythology. Like the norse god Thor, his father Odin and so on. Some languages inspired by the Vikings of old. I also notice some inspiration from old Swedish last names. We often have the fathers name and then the “son” name. Björnsson, (Beorn son) Nilsson (Nils son) , Hansson (Hans son), Björndotter. (Beorn´s daughter). Some say it belongs in Icelandic culture but I think it is much deeper. It comes from different parts of the Nordic countries ( Iceland, Danmark, Norway, Finland, England and Sweden)
