The magic system is a hybrid with a soft core. Blood magic always has a price. fatigue, loss of humanity or faster aging. Other kind of magic are mysterious and used sparingly.

THE CLASS OF A SCHOLAR
I created a class called the Poetry Scholar, who uses poetry to cast spells with high risk and high reward. Rather than dominating the battlefield, the Poetry Scholar supports their companions:
- strengthening allies
- maintaining health
- enhancing capabilities
Most people in the world do not use magic at all, which helps keep the world grounded and the presence of magic rare and meaningful.
A single mistake can render a spell useless. If a verse is mispronounced, nothing happens—making focus, discipline, and clarity essential.
Because of this, a Poetry Scholar rarely stands alone. A strong defender is often needed to protect them, giving them the time and safety required to cast their spells. If the spell is mispronounced nothing will happen. So with high focus, curiosity and discipline the spell will work.

HOW IT WORKS
Each scholar is bound to a book chosen by their personality. Without it, they cannot cast spells. Within these books, magic takes the form of poetry, verses that can be shaped for both good and evil.

INSPIRATION FOR EASTROVIA
My inspirations come from the writings of J. R. R. Tolkien and Brandon Sanderson. I have always enjoyed Tolkien’s use of poetry in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, as well as the mysterious soft magic found in his world.
The harder rules of the magic system are inspired by Brandon Sanderson’s works such as Mistborn and The Stormlight Archive.
The world is home to furred folk, humans, dwarves, and elves, creating a rich and prosperous realm with a classic epic fantasy atmosphere.
